Special schools are those that provide an education for children with a special educational need or disability. Children who are educated in special schools have been identified as having a learning difficulty or disability which calls for special educational provision to be made for them. Chaithanya Special School, Kunnamkulam follows the SCERT curriculum finding solutions for challenges faced by Children with Special Needs in the field of education. The curriculum aims at developing different abilities, skills and attitudes; the activity package ensures full participation of students.

Chaithanya Special School trains its students to grow as a person who will be able to develop life skills such as daily living, social skills & occupational awareness. The school has a strength of 90 students, 40 of them are taken care of through government aid while the remaining 50 being provided from the funds contributed by organizations, philanthropies and the general public. We also have qualified dedicated faculty members.

What started off as a desire to help the less fortunate of our brethren, has now turned into a reality. In the short time since its existence, the Bala Sahaya Samithi charitable society which runs the school has over the years, has supported the school to make remarkable progress in training and rehabilitating the children with various mental and physical challenges like Cerebral palsy, Mental retardation, Autism etc. in KUnnamkulam and its suburbs.
